Though I have a lot of family roots in Upstate New York and also got my B.S. at the University of Rochester, I primarily grew up in Germany going to school on a military base. I am a member of the Nakanishi Lab where we study cleavage-inducing tiny RNAs (cityRNAs). They are similar to microRNAs but are only 14 nucleotides long instead of 22. We aim to characterize these cityRNAs and their cleavage mechanism as facilitated by Argonaute proteins.
